AFT Hair Removal

Experience the cutting-edge Advanced Fluorescence Technology AFT Hair Removal at Deva Med Spa, representing the evolution of Intense Pulsed Light. Our systems emit meticulously controlled powerful pulses of filtered light, specifically targeting melanin—the pigment in hair. The melanin within the hair efficiently absorbs the light, generating heat within the hair shaft, and ultimately eliminating the cells in the hair follicle that stimulate hair growth. The outcome is a painless, swift, and enduring hair removal solution.

How Safe Is AFT Hair Removal?

At Deva Med Spa, AFT Hair Removal offers Evenly Distributed Fluence, guaranteeing consistent energy density throughout each pulse across the entire output face. This uniform fluence not only ensures reliable results but also enhances safety, providing a more efficient system with reduced discomfort and minimal impact on the skin.

Who can be treated with AFT Hair Removal?

At Deva Med Spa, individuals of all skin tones, including men, women, and children, have experienced successful treatments. To optimize outcomes, AFT Hair Removal procedures are tailored to individual skin color, texture, and specific body sites. It’s important to note that AFT Hair Removal pulsed light technology may not be effective for individuals with blonde or white-colored hair.

How many treatments are required?

At Deva Med Spa, it’s essential to understand the natural cycle of hair follicles, involving phases of dormancy and growth. Since AFT™ pulsed light specifically targets actively producing hair follicles during the procedure, achieving optimal results requires multiple sessions. Generally, 5 – 6 treatments are recommended, spaced at intervals of 3 – 5 weeks. It’s crucial to shave the treatment area (avoid plucking or waxing) three days prior to the scheduled session.

Exclusive to Deva Med Spa, ProLux features patented Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT), the next generation permanent hair reduction technology which uses beams of specially filtered light to eliminate up to 80% of your hair with maximum comfort and minimal risk!

AFT hair removal is suitable for a broad range of individuals, but there are specific criteria that can help determine if you’re an ideal candidate:

  1. Skin Tone and Hair Color: AFT is effective on a variety of skin tones and hair colors. It works best on individuals with a greater contrast between their hair color and skin tone, such as dark hair on light skin. However, advancements in AFT technology have made it increasingly effective on lighter hair and darker skin tones as well.

  2. Hair Thickness: Individuals with coarser hair often see better results, as the AFT technology effectively targets the melanin in thick hair.

  3. Sensitivity to Pain: If you have a low pain threshold, AFT is an excellent option due to its gentle, less painful approach compared to traditional hair removal methods.

  4. Overall Health: Ideal candidates are generally in good health. Inform your specialist if you have any skin conditions, are on medication, or have any underlying health issues that might affect treatment.

  5. Previous Hair Removal Methods: If you have previously used certain hair removal methods, such as waxing or tweezing, it’s advisable to wait for a period before undergoing AFT to ensure the hair follicle is intact for effective treatment.

  6. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: AFT is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women due to the lack of research on its effects in these conditions.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal employs a broader spectrum of light wavelengths, dispersing varying intensities of energy into the skin. This broader wavelength range can lead to a less uniform energy distribution, impacting the precision of the treatment. On the other hand, AFT (Advanced Fluorescence Technology) utilizes a more narrowly focused wavelength, enabling a more even and consistent distribution of energy. This precision allows for a more targeted approach to hair removal.

Additionally, while IPL systems typically use applicators that cover a 3cm² area, AFT systems are equipped with larger 5cm² applicators. This increased size allows for quicker treatments and more effective hair reduction over larger areas.

One of the notable differences between the two technologies is the sensation experienced during treatment. The energy bursts from IPL devices can sometimes be uncomfortable. In contrast, AFT technology incorporates a built-in cooling system and employs an ‘In-Motion’ technique. This combination not only enhances the comfort of the treatment but also contributes to a painless hair removal experience for clients.

We recommend a course of 6 sessions with a 4 to 6-week interval between each session.

Traditional hair removal machines utilized in many medspa and clinics operate on a direct heating method. This approach often involves abrupt, intense bursts of energy, which can be uncomfortable or painful for clients during treatment. In contrast, our ProLux AFT painless hair removal system adopts a more gradual heating technique. This advanced system delivers energy in a series of multiple passes over the skin, allowing for a gradual accumulation of the necessary energy levels. This method ensures a gentle yet effective targeting of hair follicles, providing a virtually pain-free hair removal experience for our clients.

You may notice hair reduction as soon as the first treatment is done, but results will be more noticeable after 4 to 6 sessions. Depending on the individual and body area, some may require additional maintenance treatment.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to achieve permanent hair removal as our bodies continually repair damaged hair follicles. We can, however, promise semi-permanent hair reduction.

Our SHR hair removal system is designed for safety and comfort. While undergoing treatment, patients may experience minimal adverse effects such as slight redness and swelling in the treated area, which typically resolves within 24 hours. Serious complications are uncommon. The technology behind our device involves the application of controlled light energy to the skin, which is administered with precision. The device is engineered to convert excess energy into a spectrum that is more suitable for effective hair removal. Concurrently, an advanced cooling mechanism is integrated into the system, actively reducing thermal stress on the skin. This dual-action approach ensures both efficacy in hair removal and maximal skin protection during the procedure.

Please notify our Laser Technicians prior to your treatment if you have any of the following conditions or circumstances:

  1. Use of Accutane, Roaccutane, Retin A, Vitamin A or B, or AHA products in the last 6 months.
  2. Menstruation on the day of treatment.
  3. Presence of sunburn, windburn, dryness, chapping, irritation, open wounds, or any kind of skin damage in the treatment area.
  4. Existence of sores, warts, ulcers, moles, birthmarks, or tattoos in the treatment area.
  5. Undergoing radiation treatments (such as UV sun tanning), electrolysis, or extensive sunbathing in the past 6 months.
  6. Excessive sun exposure in the past week.
  7. Any surgical procedures within the past 6 months.
  8. Current pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  9. Natural childbirth within the past 3 months, or Cesarean delivery in the last 6 months.

For 24 hours following your treatment, it is important to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure optimal results and minimize potential side effects:

  1. Avoid hot baths and excessively warm showers.
  2. Refrain from swimming, sunbathing, or any form of tanning.
  3. Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothing over the treated area.
  4. Do not apply any perfumed products, including deodorants, antiperspirants, self-tanners, or makeup, on the treated area.
  5. Gently handle the treated area. Avoid scrubbing, rubbing, or using harsh exfoliants to prevent bacterial infections.
  6. Abstain from intensive physical exercise.

Additionally, for the next 4 weeks:

  1. Avoid any treatments involving heat or UV exposure, such as using sunbeds or visiting saunas.
  2. Refrain from waxing, tweezing, or using depilatory methods for hair removal. If hair removal is necessary, opt for shaving.
  3. Apply sunscreen daily as a protective measure for your skin.
  4. Use a moisturizer daily for a minimum of one week to soothe and moisturize the treated area.”
